Black Type Thoroughbreds Update
Black Type Thoroughbreds opened as a public syndicate in 2019 and the results have been staggering after our first three purchases! In 12 starts, all in MSW, allowance, and stakes races, Black Type is winning at 41% and finished in the money 66% of the time!
UP IN SMOKE, our first purchase, ran 8 times as a three-year-old winning 4 including a Stakes win and running third in the Grade 1 Test at Saratoga. She will kick off her 4-year-old year in the 75k Musical Romance Stakes May 29th at Gulfstream Park. ROAD TO SUCCESS finished a good second in his debut in a MSW at Gulfstream Park back in April. He will run next in New York this month. PASS THE CHAMPAGNE was a private purchase after she finished 2nd in her debut for trainer Rusty Arnold and owner Pat Madden. After being transferred to George Weaver she broke her maiden at Gulfstream Park then stepped up and finished 2nd by a head in the Grade 1 Ashland to the eventual Kentucky Oaks winner, Malathaat. PASS THE CHAMPAGNE got squeezed out at the start of the Kentucky Oaks and never had a chance to run her race. She is a top three-year-old filly in the country, and we cannot wait to get her back in the entry box and see what she accomplishes this summer and fall. Three purchases, two Grade 1 placed fillies, and a colt that will improve with distance and time!
Black Type Thoroughbreds has recently added 2 horses to the roster this two-year-old sales season, a filly by American Freedom and a NY bred colt by Union Jackson. The American Freedom filly put in a stellar 10 flat work at the prestigious Fasig Tipton Miami sale. She hails from a speedy family full of class. Her dam, Listen to Libby, has had 4 foals to race, 2 of them are Multiple Stakes Winners including the Grade 3 winner, Chanteline. The Union Jackson Colt was purchased out of the OBS April sale after blazing the track in a 9.4 work. His sire, Union Jackson is a son of super sire, Curlin, and bred by top breeder, Stonestreet Farm. Union Jackson was a very fast horse himself, as well as a Multiple Stakes Winner who captured 6 wins out of his 11 starts.
Both horses have settled in with George Weaver and are pointed to race this summer at Saratoga! Please reach out to Black Type Thoroughbreds for more information on the two new additions.
